Welcome

2011 6 Hour CANCELLED.

The 2011 6hour has had to be cancelled due to weather conditions. There has been a huge amount of rain in the HB over the past few weeks and all proposed venues for the event are just too muddy and inaccessible. It was a VERY hard decision to make but we felt that it was better to do so now than leave it till later and have people out of pocket for ferry tickets etc
So, once again we have to miss this year and focus on October 6th 2012  (1st Saturday in Oct.)

2010 EVENT CANCELLED

It is with “huge regret and deep frustration” that the Pacific Motorcycle Club has to advise that the 20th annual Hawke’s Bay Six-Hour Cross-country Challenge will not now take place this season.

Event organiser Lyn Youren said plans for holding the event fell to pieces in just the past 24 hours after the land leaseholder at the venue had a change of mind and withdrew his consent.

The iconic event had already postponed from October because of damage done to the land by storms that had lashed the country in September but it was the human factor that became the last straw.

“We have no options at this late stage but to cancel the event for 2010,” said Mrs Youren.

“We have been hugely let down and it is very frustrating.”

“It was to be our 20th anniversary year this time around and we had special tee-shirts designed and prize giving venue, entertainment and catering all lined up.

“Thankfully we hadn’t gone as far yet as to have the shirts printed but there is still a significant loss to be carried by us.

“A huge thanks goes out to Patoka Dairies and Geoff Oxenham, club members and volunteer helpers too.”

She said all rider entry fees would be refunded.

Next year’s event is scheduled for October 1.

====================================================

This is the website for the legendary New Zealand 6 hour challenge off road endurance race, which has become an iconic national event attracting riders from throughout NZ. (Invercargil to Kaitia) The competitors age’s range from 15 to 64 years ( senior licence holders only ) and the event can be ridden as a 2-man team (using one bike) or ironman (1 rider, 1 bike). All riders start together and 6 hours later the finish flag goes out. The rider/team who has completed the most distance in the given time is the overall winner. Anyone who completes one lap is a ‘finisher’, so even the less experienced riders feature in the results and go home feeling good.

A lap is normally about 35ks of mainly forest trails, The event also involves family and friends in the ‘Pits’ refueling both bike and rider. This is a very crucial part of the event as the race is one 6 hour long race. It also provides spectators with plenty of action to watch.

It is also a very social weekend as many of the competitors and crews only meet at this event.
